Job Overview:
The UN Clinic Nurse plays a crucial role in the healthcare services provided to UN personnel, operating under the supervision of the Medical Physician In-Charge of the UN dispensary. This position is essential for ensuring that staff receive high-quality medical care and support. The nurse is responsible for attending to patients, providing first aid, conducting diagnostic tests, and facilitating referrals to medical professionals as necessary. The role also involves health education, preventive care, and the management of medical records. The nurse must be prepared to respond to emergencies and assist in medical evacuations, ensuring that all procedures are followed according to UNDP guidelines. The nurse's work is vital in maintaining the health and well-being of UN staff, particularly in a multicultural environment where diverse health needs must be addressed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Clinic Nurse has a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: attending the UN Clinic full-time, assisting the Medical Physician in providing care, responding to emergency calls, giving first aid, documenting case findings, performing diagnostic tests (ECG, x-rays, laboratory tests), conducting clinical assessments, facilitating referrals, administering vaccines, providing health education, participating in work environment assessments, coordinating medical evacuations, advising evacuees, and maintaining patient confidentiality. Administrative duties include maintaining the clinic's inventory, coordinating with other medical personnel, ensuring hygiene and cleanliness, managing medical records, scheduling consultations, and ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials. The nurse is also responsible for planning and organizing medical outreach programs and conducting first aid training for incoming staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Registered Professional Nurse qualification and/or a first-level Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Nursing Program or an equivalent accredited Diploma Program (3 years). Additional training in HIV/AIDS management, primary health care, and midwifery is desirable. Certificates in emergency medical care such as ECG, CPR, or Basic Life Support are considered assets. National registration and licensing as a nurse are mandatory. Candidates should have experience in using office software packages and demonstrate knowledge of UN administrative policies and procedures.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Registered Professional Nurse qualification and/or a first-level Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Nursing Program or an equivalent accredited Diploma Program (3 years). Additional certifications in emergency medical care and relevant training in primary health care are advantageous. National registration and license to practice nursing are essential.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of continuous clinical experience in nursing for candidates with an accredited Diploma or 3 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in a multicultural environment is preferred, along with familiarity with UN administrative policies and procedures. Previous experience in trauma and emergency care, as well as supervisory experience in a UN field operation, is considered an asset. Candidates should also have demonstrated ability in confidential record-keeping and working effectively in diverse teams.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with a diverse range of staff and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified under Tier 1, which includes UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff holding permanent and fixed-term appointments. The UN Clinic Nurse will work under the guidance of the UN Clinic Medical Physician and is expected to perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office. The role is full-time and may involve responding to emergencies outside of regular office hours.
