Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator - Gender and Inclusion will play a pivotal role in driving the gender transformative approach of two key projects implemented by Plan International Kenya in Turkana County. These projects, namely the Climate Proofing WASH services and Nurturing Futures, aim to address the needs of refugees and host communities in a coordinated and sustainable manner. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that gender-related barriers and drivers of inequalities are effectively challenged and addressed within the context of WASH and nutrition programming. This role requires providing leadership to the Integrated Refugee Response Program (IRRP) and guiding project teams and partners in advancing gender transformation throughout the program. The coordinator will also manage the gender marker application across the project cycle, ensuring that gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of project design, implementation, and evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including providing strategic guidance on gender transformative programming, ensuring effective technical project design, planning, and implementation, and fostering partnerships and alliances. Specific duties include: 1) Providing technical leadership in the integration of gender transformative strategies at the project level, ensuring alignment with Plan International's Global Strategy and Gender Equality standards. 2) Supporting projects to address harmful gender norms, improve girls' agency, and promote positive masculinity. 3) Facilitating meaningful engagement and consultation among staff, partners, and stakeholders to ensure gender transformation is prioritized. 4) Building capacity on gender equality and inclusion among staff and partners, and leading advocacy initiatives related to gender equality. 5) Coordinating monitoring and evaluation activities to track gender transformative milestones and outcomes, and ensuring that project reports reflect gender-related changes. 6) Managing budgets related to gender equality and inclusion activities, and contributing to risk assessments related to gender issues. 7) Upholding safeguarding policies and ensuring compliance with Plan International's Code of Conduct.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Gender, Social Studies, or a related field. A minimum of 4 years' experience in managing and implementing gender-inclusive or transformative projects, particularly those focused on girls and youth, is essential. Candidates should have technical knowledge of Gender Equality and Inclusion, especially in relation to sectors such as WASH, Nutrition/security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security, and Women’s Economic Empowerment. Experience in integrating gender transformative and rights-based approaches into project design and implementation is required, along with a demonstrated understanding of gender rights issues in both development and humanitarian contexts. Strong interpersonal, communication, networking, and representation skills are necessary, as well as proven leadership qualities and problem-solving abilities.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Gender, Social Studies, or other related fields is preferred. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in understanding gender issues and the social dynamics that affect gender equality and inclusion in various contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in guiding, managing, and implementing gender-inclusive and/or transformative projects. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with girls and youth, as well as experience in integrating gender transformative approaches into project design, implementation, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Kiswahili and local languages is considered an added advantage. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages will enhance engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
