Job Overview:
The role of the Assistant(e) P&C (RH) is crucial within the UNICEF Mauritania office, particularly in the context of the ongoing Future Focus Initiative (FFI) aimed at optimizing human resource processes and modernizing practices. The position involves supporting the People & Culture team in various administrative and operational tasks related to staff management. The assistant will work closely with the People & Culture Specialist to ensure that recruitment processes are compliant with UNICEF policies, facilitate onboarding for new staff, maintain accurate HR data, and contribute to the overall strategic goals of the organization. This role is designed to enhance the work environment and promote staff well-being, aligning with UNICEF's mission to improve the lives of children in Mauritania.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant(e) P&C (RH) will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: participating in the recruitment of UN Volunteers and staff, ensuring compliance with UNICEF's recruitment policies; managing the onboarding process for new staff, including the provision of necessary documents and information; maintaining up-to-date HR data on recruitment, training, and staff attendance; implementing and monitoring leave plans; assisting in the management of consultants; supporting HR communication activities by drafting content and producing informational tools; participating in innovative HR projects; liaising with HR colleagues in other offices to share best practices; developing and updating HR databases; preparing correspondence and communications; ensuring confidentiality in electronic record-keeping; planning meetings and documenting minutes; contributing to the establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs); analyzing HR data for continuous improvement; and performing any other related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HR management systems are essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, including respect, integrity, and accountability. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to effectively engage with staff and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in human resources management or related areas would be advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional development in the field.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in human resources or administrative support roles, preferably within an international organization or non-profit sector. Experience in recruitment processes, staff onboarding, and HR data management will be highly regarded.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary working language in Mauritania. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it will facilitate communication with international colleagues and stakeholders. Knowledge of Arabic would be an asset, given the local context.
