Job Overview:
The Knowledge Management Consultant will play a crucial role in implementing the HQ Polio SBC Knowledge Management Strategy, which aims to enhance the sharing of knowledge and best practices among colleagues working on polio eradication efforts. The consultant will be responsible for organizing knowledge-sharing initiatives, managing online platforms, and ensuring that the activities align with UNICEF’s Global Knowledge Management Strategy. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and disseminating critical information that supports technical practice in Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) related to polio. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including regional and country offices, to facilitate webinars, produce newsletters, and develop knowledge products that document lessons learned and innovative approaches in polio SBC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organize knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives on Polio SBC Knowledge Management among various stakeholders, including NYHQ, regional offices, country offices, partners, and donors. This includes coordinating the quarterly Global Polio SBC Newsletter and facilitating webinars on relevant topics.
  • Manage UNICEF Polio SBC Online Platforms, ensuring that SharePoint sites and the public-facing knowledge platform are up-to-date and user-friendly.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of Knowledge Management activities, producing mid-year and end-of-year reports that assess reach and effectiveness.
  • Capture and document internal knowledge by producing knowledge products such as case studies and technical guides, integrating these into newsletters and online platforms.
  • Develop and disseminate the Monthly Digital Community Engagement Newsletter, tracking engagement metrics to assess performance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first university degree in knowledge management, organizational learning, international development, public health, international affairs, or a related field. They should have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, demonstrating a solid understanding of knowledge management principles and the ability to deliver effective knowledge management activities. Experience in health emergencies, designing and managing SharePoint sites, and organizing capacity-building events is highly desirable. Strong facilitation, communication, and program management skills are essential, along with an understanding of UNICEF's values and procedures.

Educational Background:
A first university degree in knowledge management, organizational learning, international development, public health, international affairs, or another relevant discipline is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of knowledge management and its application in the context of UNICEF's work.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in knowledge management principles and the capacity to deliver knowledge management and organizational learning activities. Experience in health emergencies is highly desirable, as is experience in documenting cases and lessons learned.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse international environment.

This consultancy position is not considered a staff member under the UN regulations and does not include benefits such as leave entitlements or medical insurance. The selected candidate will be responsible for their tax liabilities and must ensure that their visa and health insurance are valid for the duration of the contract.
