Job Overview:
The Socioeconomic Integration Officer plays a crucial role in implementing activities related to Socioeconomic Integration interventions at the national level. This position involves direct supervision by the Head of Programme and overall supervision by the Chief of Mission. The officer will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The successful candidate will also support field teams and contribute to the development of work plans, project budgets, and evaluation tools. The role requires active participation in data collection, verification, and analysis, as well as updating information management systems and social media platforms to enhance project visibility. The officer will liaise with various stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government counterparts, and will contribute to capacity-building activities targeting IOM staff and community partners. Additionally, the officer will attend relevant conferences and workshops, prepare project proposals, and supervise project staff, ensuring effective project implementation and monitoring.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in coordinating and monitoring the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of projects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
  • Keep supervisors informed about project implementation status, identifying gaps and suggesting improvements.
  • Participate in developing and adjusting work plans, project budgets, and evaluation tools.
  • Coordinate data collection, verification, and analysis, updating information management systems and social media platforms.
  • Prepare and disseminate project reports in accordance with IOM procedures and donor requirements.
  • Liaise with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to planning and delivering capacity-building activities for IOM staff and partners.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and interagency meetings.
  • Participate in preparing project proposals and communication products. 1

  • Undertake duty travel for project implementation and monitoring. 1
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or a Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs.
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable groups.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, and resource management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and handling confidential data.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in these fields is acceptable. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least two years of relevant professional experience. This includes experience in liaising with governmental authorities, working with migrants and vulnerable groups, and prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or NGOs in a multicultural setting. Experience in project management and capacity building is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese and English is required for this position, both oral and written. Proficiency in IOM’s official languages, which include English, French, and Spanish, is also advantageous. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The selection process for this vacancy is subject to funding confirmation. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar positions for 24 months. National Professional Officers must be nationals of the country of employment and perform work at a professional level. Appointment is contingent upon medical fitness certification, residency verification, and necessary government authorizations.
