Job Overview:
The Programme Advisor, Protection role at NRC Myanmar is a pivotal position that requires a technical background in Protection. The primary responsibility of the role holder will be to support the nationalization of Core Competency Specialists within the organization. This includes overseeing the nationalization of various protection-related competencies such as Protection from Violence, Information, Counselling, & Legal Assistance, and Education. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a strong passion for coaching and mentoring, capable of fostering growth and development within a team. The role demands an individual who thrives on building both individual and collective capacity, providing guidance, and creating an inspiring environment for staff to succeed. The Programme Advisor will also be responsible for identifying potential within the team, nurturing talent, and supporting staff in overcoming challenges, while recognizing individual strengths and development areas. This position is exclusively open to internal NRC employees, emphasizing the organization's commitment to internal growth and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Advisor, Protection will undertake a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing technical leadership for program quality and assurance; supporting the implementation of programs; managing staff effectively; representing NRC to donors and assisting in the development of funding proposals; recruiting national Core Competency Specialists; developing capacity building plans and ensuring the provision of technical training and support; and offering coaching, mentoring, and shadowing to staff as required. The role will also involve collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance program delivery and ensuring that the protection needs of vulnerable populations are met through effective and integrated programming.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Programme Advisor, Protection position must possess a strong background in Protection, with proven expertise and experience in humanitarian or recovery contexts. A track record of mentoring, coaching, and capacity building is essential, along with expertise in developing capacity building plans. Candidates should have exposure to strategic processes leadership and experience in proposal and funding development. Familiarity with complex and volatile contexts, particularly within Myanmar, is crucial, as is fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a relevant degree in social sciences, international relations, humanitarian studies, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in Protection or related areas will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in the field of Protection, particularly within humanitarian settings. A minimum of several years of relevant experience is expected, with a focus on program management, capacity building, and technical leadership.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the Myanmar context would be considered advantageous.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Yangon, Myanmar, and is subject to the successful candidate receiving appropriate documentation. Due to current delays in international visas and work permits, the successful candidate may be required to work from home or remotely for extended periods. The contract duration is set for 12 months, with approximately 20% travel expected. The position is classified as Grade 9 in NRC’s International Salary Scale, which includes a competitive compensation and benefits package.
