Job Overview: The Advocacy Strategy Consultant will play a crucial role in implementing UNICEF's Child Rights Advocacy Strategy, which aims to strengthen the organization's capacity to counter the global pushback on children's rights. The consultant will be responsible for delivering key activities and tasks during the multi-year implementation phase, ensuring that the strategy translates into measurable outputs and results at various levels. This includes contributing to the development of a global advocacy strategy focused on child rights in digital governance, aligning UNICEF's advocacy practices with the evolving digital landscape. The consultant will need to work closely with key stakeholders based in New York and will be required to be present in the office regularly for meetings and consultations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties will include:
Implementing the Child Rights Advocacy Strategy at the global level by developing resources and facilitating knowledge sharing among practitioners.
Adapting the strategy at regional and country levels by providing tailored advocacy advice.
Designing and delivering a Global Advocacy Strategy for Centering Child Rights in Digital Governance. Specific deliverables include creating an annual implementation plan, developing an actionable toolkit for communicating about child rights, facilitating workshops, establishing monitoring systems, and producing briefing materials for global meetings. The consultant will also document lessons learned and ensure that the strategy is operationalized at all levels, with annual results monitored and reported.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree (master’s or above) in fields such as business, economics, political science, international development, or related areas. They should have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in global advocacy, government affairs, or strategic communications, with demonstrated expertise in developing advocacy strategies in complex political environments. A proven record of engaging with UN agencies, governments, and civil-society networks is essential, along with experience in digital advocacy approaches. Strong analytical, facilitation, and coaching skills are required, as well as the ability to manage diverse stakeholders across multiple regions. Previous experience with UNICEF or the UN is an asset.
Educational Background: An advanced degree (master’s or above) in business, economics, political science, finance, education, international development, public policy, international relations, communications, or a related field is required for this position.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in global advocacy, government or international affairs, or strategic communications. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to develop and implement advocacy strategies within complex political environments and a proven record of engaging with UN agencies, governments, and civil-society networks.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to UNICEF's operational regions.

The position is currently unfunded, and some deliverables may only be completed if additional resources become available. Selected candidates will need to ensure they have valid health insurance and may be required to change their visa status to G4 if applicable.
