Job Overview:
The Division Director for the Caribbean will play a pivotal role in leading the World Bank Group's efforts in the region, which encompasses 33 client countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The position requires a strategic leader who can navigate the complexities of low productivity, job quality, and vulnerability to economic shocks that the region faces. The Division Director will be responsible for developing and implementing the Country Partnership Frameworks (CPF), ensuring that the work programs align with client demands and country contexts. This role involves high-level engagement with country authorities, managing a diverse team, and overseeing the delivery of impactful development results. The Division Director will also be expected to foster partnerships and collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of the Bank's initiatives in the Caribbean.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Division Director will be accountable for modeling leadership values and ensuring the unit meets its commitments. Key responsibilities include serving as the focal point for communications with country authorities, leading the implementation of the Country Partnership Frameworks, coordinating the Bank’s dialogue and strategy in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, and providing guidance on political, social, and economic developments. The role also involves overseeing portfolio management, managing day-to-day operations of country offices, and leading and motivating the country team. Additionally, the Division Director will manage resource allocation, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to knowledge management initiatives within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a PhD or Master’s degree in economics or a related field, along with a minimum of 15 years of experience in progressively complex roles. They should be recognized experts within the World Bank Group or among academia, private sector actors, and policymakers, demonstrating a proven track record in applying practical knowledge and effective policy dialogue to achieve development results. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience engaging with clients at senior levels, representing the Bank at high-level international forums, and demonstrating thought leadership through recognized economic research and publications. Furthermore, candidates should have in-depth experience working across various practice areas and building collaborative alliances for results.

Educational Background:
A PhD or Master’s degree in economics or a related field is required for this position. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in economic principles, policy analysis, and development strategies, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to address the complex challenges faced by the Caribbean region.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 15 years of experience in roles of increasing complexity and responsibility. Candidates should have extensive experience managing large work programs, budgets, and portfolio monitoring, demonstrating proven results in their previous roles. Experience working in client countries across different regions and familiarity with the World Bank Group's services is essential, along with a deep technical knowledge of relevant policy areas.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages is preferred but not required, as the primary communication will be conducted in English.
