Job Overview: The Community Engagement Specialist will play a pivotal role in the EpiC project, which is funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Department of State. This position is crucial for enhancing community engagement and strengthening networks of adults at risk for HIV and people living with HIV (PLHIV). The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including community organizations, local governments, and health facilities, to ensure effective service delivery and advocacy efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for leading EpiC’s community strengthening strategies, which include demonstrating innovative service delivery interventions and providing capacity-building support. Key responsibilities include identifying and monitoring community engagement indicators, facilitating technical mentoring and strategic partnerships, collaborating with relevant HIV networks and partners, documenting community-led initiatives, ensuring ethical engagement of community members, and supervising the Community Engagement Coordinator. The specialist will also perform other duties as assigned, which may evolve as the project progresses.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, community development, social sciences, or health care. Alternatively, candidates with at least 2 years of college education must have a minimum of 5 years of related work experience in community engagement, particularly with adults at risk and PLHIV. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of professional work experience in the Philippines in fields such as social work, community development, public health, or HIV, with a focus on community engagement, mobilization, advocacy, and capacity building.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as social work, community development, social sciences, or health care. Candidates with significant experience in lieu of a degree may also be considered, provided they meet the experience criteria outlined in the qualifications.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the Philippines, specifically in social work, community development, public health, or HIV. Candidates should have progressively responsible experience in community engagement, mobilization, advocacy, and capacity building, particularly with Filipino adults at risk and PLHIV. Experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is also required, highlighting the importance of understanding the dynamics of community work in a nonprofit context.
