Job Overview: The consultant will work under the guidance of the Deputy Head of the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat, focusing on strengthening interagency coordination, advancing localization strategies in global policy, and shaping strategic policy messaging and knowledge products. This role is crucial for ensuring that local stakeholders are engaged in the design and implementation of development agendas, tailoring global processes to local realities. The consultant will manage responsibilities related to interagency coordination, localization strategies, and the development of knowledge products, contributing to the overall mission of the Local2030 Coalition to accelerate the localization of the 2030 Agenda.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's primary responsibilities include overseeing coordination between the Local2030 Coalition Secretariat and its working groups, leading the development of policy briefs, facilitating interagency meetings, providing expert guidance on localization strategies, and ensuring the integration of outputs into key Coalition initiatives. The consultant will also be responsible for advancing localization strategies in global thematic agendas, managing strategic partnerships, and translating policy recommendations into high-level messaging and knowledge products. Deliverables include work plans, expert meeting reports, policy briefs, strategic roadmaps, and assessments of project proposals, among others.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public affairs, political science, social sciences, urban studies, or related fields. A minimum of seven years of relevant working experience in research, knowledge, and normative development is required, along with five years of experience specifically related to the 2030 Agenda and local implementation of the SDGs. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of experience coordinating working groups or international multi-stakeholder platforms, with demonstrated knowledge of multi-lateral organizations being highly valued.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in public affairs, political science, social sciences, urban studies, development studies, or other relevant areas is required for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of urban development and sustainable practices necessary for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant working experience, including five years focused on the 2030 Agenda and local implementation of the SDGs. Candidates should also have at least two years of experience in coordinating working groups or international multi-stakeholder platforms, showcasing their ability to manage complex projects and engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
