Job Description
Job Posting Organization:

Job Overview:
This position involves conducting a comprehensive assessment of how tourism can significantly contribute to the economic development of key coastal and fishing communities in Sri Lanka. The role requires exploring the synergies between the tourism and fisheries sectors, identifying opportunities for joint support of sustainable and inclusive growth. The findings from this study will be crucial in informing the World Bank and the Government of Sri Lanka on effective policy and investment strategies that enhance the contributions of both sectors to economic development. The individual or firm will be responsible for designing and implementing surveys, collecting data, and analyzing the results to provide actionable insights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The individual or firm will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including: recruiting enumerators, obtaining sample frames from legitimate sources, conducting the selection of businesses or households for surveys, organizing training for enumerators, pre-testing questionnaires, ensuring data safeguarding, conducting surveys according to provided questionnaires, managing quality control through follow-up visits or calls, and delivering a complete dataset along with a survey report. The project manager will oversee the quality and timely submission of all deliverables, including an inception report, field procedure plan, data management plan, and final data delivery report.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a range of qualifications, including a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as economics, statistics, social policy, sociology, development studies, or agronomy. The project manager should have experience managing at least three surveys or impact evaluations in the past five years, along with sound knowledge of Sri Lanka's rural economy. The field manager/data manager should also have a bachelor's degree and experience in primary surveys, as well as proficiency in statistical software. Enumerators should have at least a high school diploma and knowledge of surveying techniques, with some required to speak English for tourist surveys.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as economics, statistics, social policy, sociology, development studies, or agronomy is required for the project manager and field manager/data manager positions. Enumerators are required to have at least a high school diploma, with additional knowledge of local languages being beneficial for effective communication during surveys.

Experience:
The project manager must have a minimum of three projects involving surveys or impact evaluations as a lead manager within the last five years. The field manager/data manager should have prior experience in conducting primary surveys and familiarity with statistical software. Enumerators should have proven experience in surveying techniques, both for individual and group interviews.

Languages:
Knowledge of local languages in the study's geographical area is mandatory for enumerators, with some positions requiring proficiency in English to effectively communicate with tourists during surveys.
