Job Overview:
The Cultural Mediation Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation and monitoring of cultural mediation activities under the Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Unit in Dublin. This position is responsible for providing operational and administrative support related to the project aimed at assisting International Protection Applicants (IPAs) in Ireland. The coordinator will independently lead and coordinate project implementation, ensuring that activities align with established plans and adapting to any changes in the operational environment. The role requires close monitoring of budget expenditures, coordination of financial and administrative aspects, and conducting capacity-building workshops for stakeholders. The coordinator will also maintain effective communication with local authorities, partners, and other relevant organizations, ensuring timely preparation of reports and documentation. This position demands a proactive approach to identifying best practices and contributing to the development of policies and procedures that enhance the project's effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of cultural mediation activities under the IBG Unit in Dublin.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with established plans and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
  • Oversee budget expenditures, verify fund availability, and maintain accurate records of project budgets.
  • Plan and conduct capacity-building workshops for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with local authorities, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.
  • Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and narrative and financial reports.
  • Document good practices and lessons learned, contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and new project proposals.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to reporting staff, ensuring their professional development.
  • Research and analyze relevant information on migration issues, presenting findings to appropriate parties. 1
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a school diploma with seven years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Proven experience in similar settings, particularly with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable groups, is essential. Familiarity with governmental authorities and international organizations in a multicultural context is advantageous. Candidates should also demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and possess strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.

Educational Background:
A school diploma with seven years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution is required. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Candidates should have a proven track record of experience in similar roles, particularly in working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations. Experience collaborating with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and UN agencies in a multicultural setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of the International Protection procedure and relevant Irish government authorities is an advantage, as is familiarity with migration-related issues in Ireland.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in any other IOM official language (French or Spanish) is considered an advantage. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Ireland will be considered.
