Job Overview: The position of Voluntario(a) Experto(a) de Naciones Unidas involves providing technical and methodological support in planning, monitoring, and evaluation to strengthen the strategic management of UNICEF's Cooperation Program in Colombia. The volunteer will ensure rigorous analysis of the situation of children, formulate evidence-based plans, and implement quality evaluation processes. The role is crucial for informed decision-making, efficient resource allocation, community engagement, and achieving sustainable results for children's rights in Colombia. The volunteer will work under the supervision of the National Officer of Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, contributing to the overall mission of UNICEF in the country.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct analysis and synthesis of evidence regarding the situation of children in Colombia, identifying bottlenecks and linking them to planning processes.
Support thematic and programmatic prioritization processes, providing tools and methodologies for participatory selection of critical issues.
Assist in designing participatory processes for defining expected results and systemic changes, ensuring integration of gender equality and non-discrimination approaches.
Contribute to monitoring interventions and programmatic risks, supporting evaluations and documenting best practices.
Promote inter-institutional coordination and capacity strengthening through training and participation in inter-agency groups.
Engage in community activities to enhance understanding of volunteering and contribute to local volunteer initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the principles of volunteering, including solidarity, compassion, and reciprocity. They should possess strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively in teams, and a commitment to continuous learning. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values is essential, along with a proactive approach to community engagement and capacity building.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in planning, monitoring, and evaluation, preferably in the context of child rights or social development. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is an advantage, as is familiarity with the Colombian context and its challenges regarding children's rights.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is highly desirable. Knowledge of indigenous languages or other local dialects can be an asset.
Additional Notes: The contract duration is subject to funding availability and operational needs, with the possibility of extensions. The monthly living allowance is COP $ 8,515,500, covering housing and living expenses. Volunteers are responsible for securing their own accommodation and essentials. The position requires full availability and exclusivity with the United Nations system. Volunteers will receive life, health, and permanent disability insurance, as well as final repatriation support if applicable.
