Job Overview:
The National Enumerator for the GESP Tracer Study will play a crucial role in assessing the effectiveness of the Girls’ Education and Skills Partnership (GESP) in Nigeria. This position involves supporting the development of survey instruments and protocols, conducting data collection, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of the data gathered. The consultant will work closely with both national and international teams to implement a comprehensive data collection strategy that includes both quantitative and qualitative methods. The role requires a strong understanding of the educational landscape in Nigeria, particularly regarding gender-sensitive approaches to education and skills development. The consultant will also be responsible for analyzing the data collected to provide insights into the impact of GESP on girls' education and employment opportunities, thereby contributing to the broader mission of UNICEF to empower young women and promote their rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation for data collection: Support the development of survey instruments and protocols, conduct pilot testing, and finalize the survey plans.
  • Data collection: Conduct data collection from January to August 2026, utilizing digital tools for quantitative data and field visits for qualitative data.
  • Follow-up to data collection: Assist in verifying and ensuring the quality of the data collected, including conducting follow-up surveys as needed.
  • Data entry and cleaning: Ensure that all data collected is accurately entered and cleaned for analysis.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on the findings from the data collection and follow-up surveys, highlighting key insights and recommendations for future interventions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in education, international development, social sciences, or a related field. A minimum of three years of experience in data collection, particularly in the education sector, is required. Applicants should have experience in developing survey instruments and protocols, as well as proficiency in data entry using Excel or other digital systems. Familiarity with digital tools for data collection and a background in working with UN agencies or international development organizations are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate an understanding of gender-sensitive approaches and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and local languages spoken in Lagos or Kano state.

Educational Background:
