Job Overview:
The National Consultant for the GESP Tracer Study will play a crucial role in assessing the effectiveness of the Girls’ Education and Skills Partnership (GESP) in Nigeria. This position involves conducting field-based data collection, both quantitative and qualitative, to evaluate the impact of the GESP on young women's skills, attitudes towards work, and their transition into employment or entrepreneurship. The consultant will work closely with international consultants and GESP partners to develop survey instruments, collect data, and ensure the quality and accuracy of the information gathered. The role requires a strong understanding of the local context and the challenges faced by adolescent girls and young women in Nigeria, particularly in relation to education and labor market participation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation for Data Collection: Support the development of survey instruments and protocols, conduct pilot testing, and finalize survey plans in collaboration with international consultants and GESP partners.
  • Data Collection: Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection from January to August 2026, utilizing digital tools for surveys and conducting field visits for interviews and focus group discussions.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data collected, participate in debrief calls, and assist in clearing raw datasets.
  • Reporting: Provide weekly field notes and interim reports on progress, challenges, and observations during data collection.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the international consultant and GESP focal points to address any discrepancies or gaps in the data.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in education, international development, social sciences, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in field-based data collection in development or humanitarian contexts is required. Demonstrated experience in administering household surveys, conducting key informant interviews, and facilitating focus group discussions with diverse stakeholders is essential. Practical experience with digital data collection tools is also necessary, along with a strong understanding of education and labor market contexts in Nigeria. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to work collaboratively and engage respectfully with community members.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as education, international development, or social sciences is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the issues at hand and for effectively conducting the necessary research and data collection.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in conducting field-based data collection, particularly in development or humanitarian settings. Candidates should have a proven track record of administering surveys and conducting interviews, as well as experience in ensuring data quality through verification and validation processes.

Languages:
