Job Overview: The Protection Monitoring/CBP Officer will play a crucial role within the Danish Refugee Council's Protection projects in Nigeria. This position involves supervising Protection Monitoring activities and managing a team of Protection Monitoring assistants and outreach volunteers. The officer will be responsible for conducting household surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews, as well as representing DRC at local coordination meetings. The role requires drafting various reports based on findings and ensuring accurate data collection and analysis. The officer will also be involved in training community members and local authorities on protection issues, ensuring compliance with protection policies, and maintaining high standards of data confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Protection Monitoring/CBP Officer include:
Ensuring timely and qualitative implementation of Protection activities in the field, adhering to DRC and international standards.
Supervising and mentoring teams of Protection assistants and outreach volunteers.
Conducting training sessions for community members and local authorities on protection topics.
Drafting weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports on Protection Monitoring activities.
Representing the protection department in partner coordination meetings.
Collecting and maintaining project data while ensuring confidentiality.
Supporting logistics and financial monitoring related to protection activities.
Managing individual cases and ensuring proper documentation.
Coordinating protection monitoring exercises and analyzing data for reporting purposes. 1
Collaborating with the Protection Manager and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of protection strategies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of protection issues, including general protection, child protection, and gender-based violence. They should have excellent analytical and reporting skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to ethical practices and the safety and dignity of beneficiaries.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in Law, Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Counseling, Education, Human Rights, Development Studies, or a relevant equivalent discipline is required for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a humanitarian organization, with at least 2 years of experience in the protection sector in Nigeria. A strong understanding of protection issues and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, along with fluency in local spoken languages being highly desirable.
Additional Notes: This position is for Nigerian National Staff only and is expected to start as soon as possible. The employment period is for 4 months with the possibility of extension. The salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment, subject to statutory deductions as per Nigerian laws.
