Job Overview:
This internship is part of the project 'Transitional Aid as an Instrument for Crisis Management,' which addresses the challenges faced by vulnerable populations in fragile contexts exacerbated by violent conflicts, disasters, and climate change. The project aims to strengthen the resilience of individuals and local structures through structural transitional aid initiatives. The internship will focus on advising the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on cooperation with UNICEF and WFP, providing an opportunity to engage in significant international processes and contribute to the development of effective transitional aid strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will support advisory teams in handling both current and long-term content and organizational tasks. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the preparation of statements and comments for the BMZ, contributing to conceptual questions and broader analyses, and preparing for and following up on team meetings, workshops, and other exchange formats. Additionally, you will be involved in knowledge management activities, ensuring that information is effectively organized and shared among team members.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in a Master's program in political or social sciences, agricultural or nutritional sciences, or a related field. Previous experience in development cooperation, humanitarian aid, or political environments, particularly with international organizations and committees, is essential. Familiarity with crisis management and working in fragile contexts is also required. Strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate complex content clearly, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines are crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as political science, social science, agricultural science, or nutritional science is required. Candidates must be currently enrolled in their studies or in a continuing education program that includes an internship as an integral part, or they should have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
Interns should possess initial experience in development cooperation or humanitarian assistance, particularly in contexts involving international organizations. This experience can be gained through previous internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to crisis management and international relations.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and German, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly in languages relevant to the regions where GIZ operates.
