Job Overview: The Roving Risk and Compliance, Safeguarding and Code of Conduct Officer will be based in the Sokoto office, with frequent travel to Maiduguri. This position is crucial for ensuring compliance with DRC's Risk and Compliance, Safeguarding, and Code of Conduct guidelines. The officer will contribute to the implementation of strategies that translate into actionable plans and daily tasks, including conducting spot checks and internal audits. The role is designed to ensure that DRC's Area Offices adhere to internal policies, donor requirements, and local laws. The officer will actively promote a culture of compliance and risk management across all departments, identifying weaknesses in controls and recommending corrective actions. Daily monitoring of safeguarding procedures and fostering a culture of adherence to the Code of Conduct will be key responsibilities, alongside collaborating with the Risk & Compliance, Safeguarding and Code of Conduct Specialist to enhance capacity building plans and safeguarding practices within the area office.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Roving Risk and Compliance, Safeguarding and Code of Conduct Officer include acting as the safeguarding focal point at the Area Office, supporting the Risk and Compliance Specialist in managing complaint mechanisms, conducting internal investigations, and producing high-quality reports on findings. The officer will assist in ensuring that survivors of abuse receive timely assistance and will collaborate with various teams to maintain compliance with DRC's policies. This includes liaising with HR for safe recruitment practices, ensuring adherence to the Accountability to Affected Population policy, and supporting training and sensitization efforts for staff. The officer will also be involved in identifying and mitigating risks related to safeguarding, fraud, and corruption, strengthening internal controls, and supporting audits in the field office. The responsibilities may evolve based on operational needs but will remain aligned with the overall purpose of the role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, particularly in the humanitarian sector or social and human rights projects.
