Job Overview: The Strategic Initiatives Sports Consultant will support UNICEF’s fundraising and marketing efforts within the sports sector. This role is crucial for developing and executing a comprehensive global marketing campaign and fundraising strategy through the new platform 'Every Play for Every Child.' The consultant will bridge marketing and partnership activations, ensuring UNICEF's visibility in the sports industry while driving financial results through strategic partnerships. The position emphasizes campaign development, management, and fundraising through partnerships, requiring collaboration with various teams and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will lead the development of UNICEF’s sports fundraising strategy, create operational processes, deliver global marketing campaigns for both B2B and B2C audiences, and develop fundraising mechanisms. Responsibilities include capacity building with fundraising markets, overseeing partnership development, leading global partnership efforts, creating fundraising and marketing assets, coordinating marketing communications, managing budgets, work planning, reporting, and KPIs. The consultant will also lead a global market working group and conduct workshops, ensuring continuous stakeholder engagement and support for markets.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to design and implement complex marketing and fundraising initiatives. Flexibility, independence, and teamwork are essential, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A strong customer service approach and the ability to navigate complex environments are also important. The consultant should demonstrate a strong work ethic, confidence, initiative, and enthusiasm.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in Marketing, Communications, the humanities, journalism, or a relevant field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted. Additional training in a related field is considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of five years of related experience in fundraising, partnership development, project management, and knowledge management is required. Experience working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, philanthropy, and corporate audiences is essential, along with proven experience in managing competing priorities and developing new fundraising models and international partnerships in sports. Experience in leading fundraising events and working with creative teams or agencies is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of an additional UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset, as is knowledge of a UNICEF National Committee language.
Additional Notes: The consultant will work remotely and may travel as needed, with travel costs covered separately by UNICEF. Payment will be made upon satisfactory completion of deliverables, and UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment for unsatisfactory performance.
