Job Overview: The Field Agent (MRP) will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of UN-Habitat's programs in Brazil, specifically in Rio de Janeiro. This position requires close collaboration with the operational and technical teams of UN-Habitat, as well as engagement with local communities. The Field Agent will be responsible for applying the Quick Participatory Mapping methodology, conducting surveys, and disseminating information about the program within the communities. The role also involves organizing local events, participating in meetings, and ensuring that technical activities meet the quality expectations of the agency. The Field Agent will report directly to the Head of the Brazil Office and will be evaluated based on their performance and contributions to the program.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Agent (MRP) will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: 1) Composing a responsible team for the application of the Quick Participatory Mapping methodology in communities in Rio de Janeiro. 2) Applying questionnaires as requested by the Programme Coordination. 3) Disseminating information about the program within the communities. 4) Supporting the organization of local events and participating in local meetings as requested. 5) Ensuring that technical activities align with the quality expectations of UN-Habitat and its counterparts. 6) Preparing and delivering a Monthly Activity Report in a timely manner. 7) Attending meetings and conferences organized by UN-Habitat and project partners. 8) Participating in missions as requested. 9) Completing all required training and courses, including the BSAFE security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security course from UNDSS. 10) Familiarizing oneself with United Nations security mechanisms and complying with them according to the Framework of Accountability for the United Nations Security Management System.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a combination of educational qualifications and relevant experience. The minimum requirement is a high school diploma, along with two additional years of relevant technical experience. A bachelor's degree in fields such as International Relations, Geography, Sociology, Law, Economics, Social Work, or Social Sciences is desirable. Candidates should possess strong computer skills, particularly in Windows and Office packages, and have experience in data collection, especially in public projects and vulnerable communities. Previous experience working in the United Nations is also desirable, along with skills in conducting household, census, and social surveys.
Educational Background: Candidates must have at least a high school diploma, with a preference for those holding a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as International Relations, Geography, Sociology, Law, Economics, Social Work, or Social Sciences. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of urban development and social issues faced by communities in Rio de Janeiro.
Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in fields related to urban development, social work, or community engagement is required. Candidates should have experience in data collection, particularly in public projects and vulnerable communities. Experience in coordinating fieldwork, especially in the public sector, is desirable. Previous work experience with the United Nations or similar organizations is also a plus, as it demonstrates familiarity with international standards and practices.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for effective communication within the local communities. Additionally, knowledge of English and French is beneficial, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Spanish is also relevant, given that it is the working language of the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is expected to last for one month. The consultant will receive a monthly allowance of BRL 3,601 (net amount) upon approval of their monthly activity report by the Head of Brazil Office. The appointment is on a local basis, and only nationals from Brazil or candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply. The contract's extension is subject to the availability of funds and performance, and it is not automatic.
