European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) About
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. They use the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter – the fundamental particles.
Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, was established in 1954 and is one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research. With a mission to uncover the fundamental structure of the universe, CERN employs thousands of physicists and engineers who work collaboratively to explore the basic constituents of matter. The organization operates in multiple countries and is known for its cutting-edge research and technological advancements, particularly in particle physics. CERN's facilities include the Large Hadron Collider, the world's largest and most powerful particle accelerator, which is used to conduct experiments that push the boundaries of our understanding of the universe.

Job Overview:
The position of Electrical engineer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Engineer within CERN's Engineering Department (EN) is crucial for the maintenance and operation of the electrical transmission and distribution network. The successful candidate will be a proactive Asset Management expert with a specialization in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for electrical networks or industrial complexes. This role involves ensuring the operational efficiency of CERN's complex electrical infrastructure, which is essential for supporting the laboratory's advanced scientific research. The engineer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the representation of the electrical network asset base and associated inventory within the CMMS, contributing to the overall functionality and reliability of CERN's electrical systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Technical Engineer include conducting thorough inventories and classifications of all assets within the electrical network, defining a hierarchical structure and data model for asset representation in the CMMS, and coordinating site surveys to collect asset information. The engineer will input and configure all asset data in the CMMS, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and traceability. Regular audits and validation routines will be conducted to monitor data quality, and the engineer will identify data gaps and collaborate with field teams to resolve them. Additionally, the engineer will configure and manage failure codes to support fault analysis and optimize maintenance processes. They will assist maintenance managers in defining preventive maintenance tasks and provide training and technical assistance to users regarding asset and maintenance data. The engineer will also maintain documentation on CMMS asset configurations and assist in creating dashboards and reports related to asset status and maintenance history.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering or a related field. They should have experience in implementing, configuring, or administering a CMMS, particularly in asset structuring and maintenance data modeling. Familiarity with electrical infrastructure environments and handling assets such as transformers and switchgear is essential. Experience in data collection and on-site surveys, as well as spare parts management and warehouse organization, is required. Knowledge of AI-based tools for data processing is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required for this position. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in the implementation and administration of CMMS, particularly focusing on asset structuring and maintenance data modeling. Experience working in electrical infrastructure environments and familiarity with various electrical assets is crucial. The candidate should also have experience in conducting data collection and site surveys, ideally in collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams, as well as in spare parts management and warehouse organization.

Languages:
Proficiency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the other language. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication within the organization and with various stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of applying for an indefinite position subject to certain conditions.
