This role involves driving opportunity identification, planning, implementation, and adoption of Giga’s technology services across multiple countries, with a focus on Tanzania. The position requires a blend of technology delivery expertise and stakeholder management to ensure that Giga’s services are effectively localized and sustained. The volunteer will engage with national and regional stakeholders to facilitate the integration of Giga’s mapping and monitoring platforms into local systems, thereby enhancing educational connectivity and digital skills among children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Opportunity Development & Identification (25%): Develop an understanding of school mapping initiatives, identify opportunities for Giga’s tools in UNICEF programmatic countries, and tailor solution pitches to meet stakeholder needs. Rapidly scope new project requests and surface emerging use cases from in-country engagements.
  • Delivery & Project Management (45%): Plan and manage the implementation of Giga’s products in coordination with Delivery Leads and partners. Collaborate with Giga HQ Technology teams to adapt tools to local needs, support data collection and validation, and travel to countries as needed for training and stakeholder engagement. Lead project management for in-country rollouts, monitor progress against milestones, and support evaluation activities.
  • Customer Success (20%): Organize training for governments and partners, capture lessons learned, and lead customer retention efforts. Provide targeted training and support for in-country staff, ensuring the integration of Giga tools into workflows and monitoring their effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong project management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of technology delivery in educational contexts. They should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, and have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in data management and analysis, as well as familiarity with mapping and monitoring tools, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant field such as education, information technology, project management, or social sciences is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in these areas will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in project management, technology implementation, or educational initiatives. Experience working in international development or with NGOs is preferred, particularly in contexts related to education and technology.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Kiswahili or other local languages is an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time UN Volunteer role embedded within the UNICEF Tanzania Country Office. The contract duration and specific terms will be discussed during the recruitment process. The role may involve travel to various countries supported by Giga, and candidates should be prepared for potential travel requirements.
