Job Overview:
The Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRHiE) Analyst is tasked with analyzing and assessing political, social, economic, and cultural trends that affect the delivery of UNFPA’s sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programs in Region V (Bicol) and its provinces. This role involves undertaking humanitarian program-related assignments as necessary, under the supervision of the Humanitarian-Development-Peacebuilding (HDP) Nexus Specialist. The Analyst will coordinate closely with the SRH Team Leader and other members of the HDP Nexus Team at the UNFPA Country Office in Manila. The position is critical in ensuring that SRH activities are effectively implemented, monitored, and reported, particularly in humanitarian contexts. The Analyst will also be responsible for building partnerships and advocating for the integration of SRH services within primary health care systems, ensuring that vulnerable populations, including internally displaced persons, receive the necessary support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the SRHiE Analyst include:
  • Coordinating the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of UNFPA SRH programs in Region V, ensuring alignment with the UNFPA Country Programme and local sectoral plans.
  • Integrating humanitarian preparedness and response into SRH programming.
  • Ensuring quality assurance and risk management for SRH programs, including timely reporting and documentation.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing and replication of good practices among SRH partners.
  • Providing technical support and capacity building for stakeholders involved in SRH initiatives.
  • Conducting assessments of the SRH situation in Region V and identifying opportunities for UNFPA intervention.
  • Developing advocacy and policy documents to strengthen SRH programming.
  • Representing UNFPA in coordination mechanisms related to SRH and leading the SRH Sub-Cluster in the field.
  • Maintaining communication with the HDP Nexus Team Leader and other UNFPA teams. 1
  • Carrying out any other duties as required by UNFPA leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in medicine, public health, international development, social sciences, or related fields. They should have at least two years of professional experience in maternal health or sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a focus on program/project management. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to the UN and UNFPA's mandate in the Philippines, and experience working with vulnerable communities is considered an asset. Proficiency in using office software and web-based management systems is required, along with knowledge of conflict sensitivity and a 'do no harm' approach.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in medicine, public health, international development, social sciences, or other related fields is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of sexual and reproductive health issues, particularly in emergency contexts.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of professional experience in the field of maternal health or sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a strong emphasis on program/project management. Candidates should have practical experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects, particularly in emergency and post-conflict settings. Field experience addressing sexual and reproductive health issues is crucial, as is a commitment to the UNFPA's mission and values.

Languages:
Proficiency in Filipino and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of local dialects in the Bicol Region is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time, fixed-term position with a duration of one year, subject to renewal based on the availability of funds. The role is non-rotational, meaning that the Analyst will be based in Legazpi, Albay, Philippines. The position offers an attractive remuneration package, including a competitive net salary, cost-of-living adjustment, rental subsidy, education grant, health insurance, and other applicable benefits.
