Job Overview:
The Individual Contractor (IC) position is crucial for providing administrative and financial support to the Plastics team within the Resource and Markets Branch of UNEP. The IC will work under the guidance of the Administrative Officer and will assist the Project Manager in various tasks related to donor agreements and legal compliance. This role is essential for ensuring that all financial documents and contracts are managed effectively, and that the team can cope with its daily workload. The IC will be involved in preparing legal agreements, managing contracts with UNEP/UNOPS, and supporting logistics for meetings and events. The position requires a proactive approach to managing travel requests and ensuring compliance with UN regulations, making it a vital role in the successful execution of UNEP's projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The IC will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: assisting in the preparation and tracking of donor agreements and legal agreements; managing UNEP/UNOPS contracts; coordinating payments and overseeing expenditure reports; organizing meetings and events, including providing technical support for virtual/hybrid formats; managing travel requests for participants and consultants; ensuring proper processing and filing of legal obligations; preparing payment requests; and undertaking any other necessary administrative duties. The IC will play a key role in ensuring that all administrative processes are executed smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the projects undertaken by the Plastics team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a first-level university degree in finance, accounting, business or public administration, or a related field being desirable. A minimum of five years of experience in the administration of financial documents and contracts is required, with a background in finance considered an asset. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in Excel and the MS Office suite, is essential. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with the United Nations or international organizations is also desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum requirement. A first-level university degree in finance, accounting, business or public administration, or a related field is highly desirable and would enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience, particularly in the administration of financial documents and contracts. Candidates with a background in finance will have an advantage. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating within a team is essential, as is familiarity with the operations of the United Nations and international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is a prerequisite for this role, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Proficiency in French is considered an asset but is not mandatory for this position.
