Job Overview: As the Senior Officer for Drugs within the Digital, Health Innovations and Artificial Intelligence (DHAI) cluster, you will play a crucial role in supporting drug development programs across various disease and therapeutic areas. This position is integral to the India Country Office (ICO), which is one of the foundation's largest and most active programs. Your responsibilities will include providing strategic and operational support to enhance drug development partnerships, leading research and development efforts, and ensuring the delivery of quality, affordable pharmaceuticals to vulnerable populations. You will collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and government institutions to shape investments that advance innovations in drug development and delivery, aligning with global health goals and regulatory standards. Your work will also involve engaging with various stakeholders to facilitate the development of drugs targeting high-burden diseases, ensuring that India plays a significant role in global health product supply chains.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Drug Product Development and Delivery: You will assist the DHAI team in designing and managing investments aimed at the research, development, and scale-up of pharmaceutical products, including small molecules and drug-device combinations. You will enable public-private partnerships to accelerate drug development for high-burden diseases in India and Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Collaboration with government partners and Indian pharma manufacturers will be essential to align product development strategies with regulatory requirements and delivery feasibility.
Transaction, Regulatory, and Technical Support: Provide technical expertise on Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC), regulatory submissions, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements for drug development projects. You will support negotiations and execution of agreements with partners to advance drug development goals and coordinate project plans to ensure alignment with foundation standards.
Strategic Engagement and Cross-Functional Internal Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, collaborating with program strategy teams to support development programs for India launches. Stay updated on trends in drug development and regulatory science, identifying synergies across teams to enhance strategy execution and impact goals. Represent the DHAI team in technical discussions and contribute to internal learning by sharing insights from partnerships.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s or PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, regulatory science, or a related field. A minimum of 12–15 years of senior-level experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry is required, with demonstrated expertise in drug development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs. Strong experience in the Indian pharma sector, including drug product development and regulatory engagement, is essential. Candidates should have a proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and a strong technical knowledge of CMC, GMP, and regulatory systems relevant to drug development.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master’s or PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, regulatory science, or a related field.
