Job Overview: The position of International Consultant for Health-Promoting Schools (HPS) Teacher TrainingCurriculum Development is aimed at leading the design and development of a competency-based and contextualized teacher training curriculum and manual for Bangladesh’s secondary school sector. The consultant will work closely with UNESCO Dhaka, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), and the National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) to address significant gaps identified in teachers’ skills and school leadership capacity. The consultant will be responsible for creating a structured training curriculum that aligns with global health-promoting school standards while being adaptable to the local context. This role requires a collaborative approach, where the consultant will provide technical guidance and ensure the quality of the training package developed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a series of tasks over the consultancy period, including: 1) Conducting onboarding and desk review of relevant documents and policies; 2) Developing the HPS Training Curriculum and Manual, including objectives and methodologies; 3) Drafting and editing the curriculum and manual, ensuring integration of key health topics; 4) Designing feedback and evaluation mechanisms for the training; 5) Monitoring and collecting data from pilot training sessions; 6) Finalizing the training curriculum and manual based on feedback; 7) Delivering Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions; and 8) Submitting the final training curriculum and manual along with a rollout plan and consultancy completion report.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Education, Public Health, Curriculum Development, or a related field, with a PhD in Education preferred. Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of international experience in developing teacher training programs focused on health and well-being, health-promoting schools, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), or comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) is required. Proven expertise in competency-based training approaches and teacher professional development is essential, along with a strong understanding of WHO/UNESCO Global Standards for Health-Promoting Schools. Excellent facilitation, writing, mentoring, and interpersonal communication skills are also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced degree in Education, Public Health, Curriculum Development, or a related field. A PhD in Education is preferred, indicating a high level of expertise and knowledge in the field of education and curriculum development.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of international experience in developing teacher training programs related to health and well-being, health-promoting schools, SRHR, or CSE.
