Job Overview: The GBV Programme Analyst position is crucial for supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of quality Gender-Based Violence (GBV) interventions in Al Hudaydah, Yemen. The incumbent will work closely with UNFPA staff, government counterparts, and implementing partners to contribute to the design and execution of the UNFPA country programme. This role involves collaboration with various thematic areas, including Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), to promote integrated programming and ensure effective delivery of results. The Programme Analyst will support the implementation of UNFPA’s work plan across the Houdaida governorate, ensuring that GBV programming aligns with national development priorities and international guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The GBV Programme Analyst will be responsible for several key areas:
Partnerships and Coordination: Facilitate and support UNFPA’s implementing partners at the governorate level to deliver quality GBV response and prevention interventions. Ensure that implementing partners have the necessary knowledge and skills to implement GBV interventions based on IASC Guidelines. Collaborate with UNFPA field staff and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of activities. Participate in protection-related coordination platforms and represent UNFPA in various meetings.
Technical Support and Programming: Lead the development of capacity assessment tools for GBV staff and support the standardization of GBV training materials. Contribute to humanitarian response efforts, including joint assessments and emergency preparedness actions. Coordinate with implementing partners to establish forums for learning and standardizing GBV program interventions. Provide technical support for multi-sector GBV projects and facilitate the adaptation of GBV-specific standards and guidance notes.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting: Analyze and report on program progress, identifying constraints and recommending corrective actions. Monitor GBV project expenditures and ensure timely delivery of quality project and financial reporting. Conduct regular monitoring missions and compile program activity information to evaluate progress toward achieving outcomes. Support the preparation of periodic progress and annual reports addressing UNFPA’s Result Based Management approach.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree (Master) in social science, political science, gender, humanitarian affairs, or other relevant areas. A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in gender-based violence in emergencies is required, along with practical experience in engaging with youth program interventions and report writing. Experience in program/project management, including large multi-sector projects, is essential. Candidates should have knowledge of quality care and survivor-centered approaches in GBV programming, as well as experience in culturally sensitive programming. Strong technical leadership and the ability to produce high-quality results are necessary, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
Educational Background: An advanced degree (Master) in social science, political science, gender, humanitarian affairs, or other relevant fields is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to address complex issues related to gender-based violence and humanitarian response.
