Job Overview: The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director, Strategy and Program Management (DDSPM) role is pivotal in balancing program-specific leadership, regional integration, and cross-geography collaboration to enhance the Foundation's impact on eradicating infectious diseases. The position focuses on the delivery of HIV and TB programs within the Program Strategy Team (PST), ensuring that delivery and research & development strategies are seamlessly integrated. The DDSPM is responsible for strategic planning, execution, and investment decisions, providing strong leadership in financial, operational, and human resource aspects of the TB & HIV Delivery team. This role also involves collaboration with various teams across different regions, including Seattle, India, and China, to align strategies and foster a unified team culture that promotes shared learning and coordinated global action.
Duties and Responsibilities: The DDSPM will lead the strategic development and management of TB and HIV programs, ensuring alignment with the Africa Business Team and global counterparts. Responsibilities include serving as a strategic partner to the Director and program staff, driving alignment of team activities with strategic goals, leading complex strategic projects, and cultivating insights to communicate progress and contributions to the Foundation's mission. The role also involves team development and people management, including recruiting, training, and monitoring team performance. The DDSPM will partner with finance to develop budgets and forecasts, advise on investments, and ensure that portfolio decisions reflect both PST priorities and regional perspectives. Additionally, the DDSPM will act as a trusted advisor to the Directors, lead cross-foundation initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an MBA or equivalent experience, with at least 15 years in business strategy, development, public health, life sciences, or general management. Proficiency in technical and financial matters is essential, along with experience in developing and managing business plans, budgets, and financial reports. A deep understanding of strategy development and implementation, as well as experience with pharmaceutical product development and health program delivery, is required. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to lead teams towards complex goals, and experience collaborating with senior decision-makers are also necessary qualifications for this role.
Educational Background: A graduate degree, preferably an MBA or equivalent, is required for this position. The educational background should be complemented by extensive experience in relevant fields such as business strategy, public health, or life sciences, which will provide the necessary foundation for the responsibilities of the DDSPM role.
