UN Women merges the work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system that focused on gender equality and women's empowerment. UN Women’s China Office in Beijing specifically focuses on enhancing women's economic empowerment, ending violence against women, addressing gender issues, and promoting gender equality through various initiatives and collaborations with stakeholders.

Job Overview:
The National Intern for EVAW will work under the direct supervision of the UN Women EVAW analyst and collaborate with relevant program and communication colleagues. The intern will be involved in implementing tasks related to advocacy, communication, knowledge management, and program support. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in planning and executing advocacy campaigns, developing communication materials, and consolidating data from various prevention programs. The intern will also gain insights into UN Women’s operations and the broader UN system's efforts to combat violence against women and girls. The position aims to enhance the intern's understanding of gender issues, improve their technical and writing skills, and establish professional relationships within the UN framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will support the development of communication materials for events such as the International Symposium on Judicial Concepts and Practices for Women’s Rights Protection. They will assist in disseminating knowledge products related to EVAW projects in both Chinese and English. The intern will contribute to planning advocacy campaigns, including drafting messages and designing communication assets. They will also consolidate and organize data and impact stories from prevention programs, assist in drafting the China Office Annual Report, and provide administrative support for meetings and events. Additional responsibilities include maintaining filing systems, preparing procurement documents, and monitoring reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese, with a strong preference for those who have working knowledge of another UN language. The position is open to Chinese nationals only. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to complete administrative tasks and have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. The ideal candidate should also exhibit core values such as integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity, along with competencies in gender sensitivity, accountability, and effective communication.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be enrolled in a graduate program or in the final year of a bachelor's degree in disciplines such as sociology, law, or women’s studies. Those who have graduated within the last two years may also apply, provided they can commence the internship within that timeframe. Candidates from other fields may apply if they can justify their qualifications in their cover letter and demonstrate competence in the technical test or interview.

Experience:
The internship is designed for individuals who are either currently enrolled in a relevant academic program or have recently graduated. While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in gender issues and the workings of the UN system. Previous involvement in advocacy or communication activities would be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Chinese is required, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.

This internship position is specifically for Chinese nationals and is intended to provide a stipend to interns who do not receive financial support from other sources. Interns will be required to provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan, proof of school enrollment or degree, and a scanned copy of their passport or national ID.
