The Innovation and Analytics Hub is the first dedicated center for innovation and analytics within the UN, focusing on enhancing the analytical and operational capacities of the OHCHR through advanced data analytics and emerging technologies.

Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at the Innovation and Analytics Hub offers a unique opportunity for motivated individuals to engage in meaningful work that contributes to the advancement of human rights. Interns will work closely with full-time professional staff and will be involved in various projects that aim to create a lasting impact on the UN's human rights initiatives. The Hub focuses on five key areas: Data, Digital, Innovation, Foresight, and Behavioral Science, and seeks to leverage these areas to strengthen the UN's response to human rights challenges. Interns will have the chance to work on specific workstreams, including Strategic Coordination and Planning, Digital Transformation and AI, Data and Analytics, and Human Rights Risk Analysis and Early Warning. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the UN's mission while gaining valuable insights into the workings of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be assigned to one or more of the following workstreams, each with specific duties: 1) Strategic Coordination and Planning: Interns will assist in organizing strategic planning meetings, outreach initiatives, and training workshops. They will contribute to the creation of analytics products, slide decks, and background papers, as well as monitor and analyze strategic initiatives. 2) Digital Transformation and AI: Interns will support the planning and execution of digital transformation initiatives, assist in developing data analytics tools, and provide technical support and training on digital platforms. 3) Data & Analytics: Interns will collect and verify data from field presences, develop analytical products, and support the dissemination of innovative tools and best practices. 4) Human Rights Risk Analysis and Early Warning: Interns will monitor and analyze emerging human rights risks, support the preparation of specialized reports, and conduct media monitoring to identify potential human rights concerns. Overall, interns will be expected to contribute actively to their assigned workstreams and collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: 1) Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (master's degree or equivalent, Ph.D. or post-graduate degree). 2) Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Candidates should specify their interest in one of the workstreams and demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge in their application.

Educational Background:
Candidates pursuing studies in fields relevant to the workstreams are encouraged to apply. For example, those interested in Strategic Coordination and Planning should have backgrounds in Political Science, Communication, Business Management, or Public Administration. For Digital Transformation and AI, relevant fields include Computer Science, Information Technology, and Data Science. Data & Analytics candidates should have backgrounds in Data Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, or Geography. Lastly, those interested in Human Rights Risk Analysis and Early Warning should have studies in International Relations, Law, or related fields.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in human rights and relevant fields. Experience in research, data analysis, or project management may be beneficial, particularly for those applying to specific workstreams. Interns should be prepared to engage in hands-on work and contribute to team projects effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, both oral and written. Knowledge of another United Nations official language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, would be advantageous and could enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last between three to six months, with flexible start dates. Interns are responsible for covering their own costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses. The internship is not financially remunerated, and candidates should be aware that the UN does not charge any fees during the recruitment process. Interns must also ensure they have the appropriate visa and work authorization if they are not citizens or permanent residents of Switzerland.
