The International Organization for Migration (IOM) was established in 1951 with the mission to provide humane and orderly migration for the benefit of migrants and society. Initially founded to assist Europeans displaced by World War II, IOM has evolved into a global organization that addresses migration challenges and opportunities. In September 2016, IOM became the UN Migration Agency, enhancing its role in coordinating international efforts to manage migration effectively. IOM operates in over 150 countries, employing thousands of staff members dedicated to various migration-related programs and activities. The organization is committed to promoting the rights and well-being of migrants, ensuring their integration into society, and advocating for their needs on a global scale.

Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant work experience. The program aims to provide interns with practical experience in areas relevant to IOM's mission, including multimedia production, communication, and humanitarian advocacy. Interns will work under the supervision of the Media and Communications Officer at the IOM Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) Mission, focusing on creating compelling multimedia content that highlights IOM's humanitarian impact and strengthens its storytelling efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and multicultural environment while contributing to meaningful projects that support vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the creation, editing, and organization of multimedia content such as photos, videos, and graphics to document IOM's Gaza Response activities; assisting in planning and coordinating photo and video shoots with photographers, implementing partners, and beneficiaries; editing short videos and preparing photo selections for publication on digital and social media platforms; organizing and maintaining multimedia archives and shared folders with proper metadata and labeling; drafting captions, story outlines, or shot lists in alignment with IOM communication standards; contributing to the development of visual content for social media campaigns and internal reports; applying IOM branding and visibility guidelines across multimedia products; and collaborating with regional and headquarters communications teams to align materials with global communication objectives.

Additionally, candidates should have a specific interest in IOM's programs and activities, and may be required to hold a scholarship for internship placements or be sponsored by governmental or non-governmental institutions. This ensures that interns possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to IOM's multimedia and communication efforts.

Experience:
Candidates should have previous academic or volunteer experience in multimedia production, photography, videography, or communication. Familiarity with software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, or InDesign is desirable. Experience in managing digital content, student media projects, or creative portfolios will be considered an advantage. A demonstrated interest in humanitarian or development communication is also an asset, as it aligns with IOM's mission and objectives.

Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, although those benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship that includes financial remuneration will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan for the duration of the assignment, but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance and must provide proof of coverage before commencing work. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, and discrimination.
