Job Overview:
The Gender Program Specialist position is pivotal in providing strategic, technical, and programmatic support to UNFPA's initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean, specifically targeting gender-based violence and harmful practices. The role involves working closely with the Regional Gender Advisor and collaborating with country offices, headquarters, and regional partners to ensure effective implementation of strategies aimed at reducing gender-based violence, including child marriage and early and forced unions. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gender Program Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the gender work plan, focusing on the reduction of gender-based violence and harmful practices. Key responsibilities include providing technical assistance to country offices, ensuring fund accountability, and reviewing the execution of projects and cooperation funds. The specialist will participate in inter-agency working groups, represent UNFPA at regional and international meetings, and promote knowledge management by sharing best practices and lessons learned. Additionally, the role involves supporting advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by preparing documentation and participating in related events. The specialist will also oversee the development and implementation of projects aligned with regional and global strategic frameworks, monitor financial efficiency, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve transformative results.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in gender studies, human rights, social sciences, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in gender-based violence management and development is required, with at least 3 years of experience working in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Substantive knowledge and practical experience in gender-based violence and harmful practices, particularly child marriage and early and forced unions, are essential. Experience with the United Nations System and field experience in relevant countries is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Master's degree in a relevant field such as gender studies, human rights, social sciences, or humanities. This advanced degree is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender-based violence and harmful practices, as well as for developing effective strategies to address these issues within the framework of UNFPA's mission.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in areas related to gender-based violence and harmful practices. Languages:
