Job Overview: The Economic Recovery Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of Economic Recovery (Livelihoods) activities within the Danish Refugee Council. Reporting directly to the Economic Recovery Team Leader, the assistant is expected to provide operational and administrative support, which includes counseling, referrals, coordination, monitoring, and engaging with beneficiaries. This position is vital for ensuring that displaced individuals receive the necessary support to rebuild their livelihoods and achieve self-reliance. The assistant will be involved in various activities such as organizing job fairs, vocational training, and maintaining communication with beneficiaries to ensure they are informed about available opportunities and services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Economic Recovery Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Counseling and Training Support: Assisting the Economic Recovery Officer in rolling out livelihood counseling forms, collecting data from beneficiaries, conducting one-on-one counseling sessions, organizing livelihood activities, and updating beneficiary information in DRC’s database.
Coordination and Referral Support: Helping identify job opportunities and relevant services for referrals, documenting referrals, and maintaining communication with service providers.
Relationship Building and Communication: Maintaining contact lists of service providers and stakeholders, coordinating with partners and employers, and ensuring respectful communication with beneficiaries.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Collecting data on beneficiary needs, relaying feedback, supporting the MEAL team in organizing feedback sessions, and conducting quality checks with partners.
Other: Providing logistical and administrative support for activities, ensuring adherence to DRC’s Code of Conduct, and coordinating with other teams for protection mainstreaming.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a diploma degree or higher in a relevant field such as economics, development studies, or business. Additionally, candidates should have 1-2 years of experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations, particularly in livelihoods or economic recovery. Strong communication skills, good organizational abilities, and basic data collection skills are essential. Candidates must also be able to use their own vehicle for field visits, with travel expenses reimbursed according to DRC policy. Familiarity with the local context and socio-economic challenges faced by vulnerable communities is also required, along with a strong interest in understanding private sector actors and support services in Jordan.
Educational Background: Candidates must have at least a diploma degree or higher in a relevant area such as economics, development studies, or business. This educational background is crucial for understanding the economic recovery processes and the challenges faced by displaced individuals in rebuilding their livelihoods.
Experience: The position requires 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably in NGOs or community-based organizations, focusing on livelihoods, economic recovery, or similar fields. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate is familiar with the operational aspects of economic recovery initiatives and can effectively engage with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Strong communication skills in these languages are essential for effective engagement with beneficiaries, stakeholders, and partners. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
