Job Overview: In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the foundation's Financial Planning and Analysis capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to support cross-foundation visibility, analysis, and decision-making regarding operating expenses. You will assist leadership in understanding the financial implications of strategic and operational decisions through detailed modeling, scenario analysis, and the synthesis of complex information into actionable insights. Your work will involve leading discovery and diagnostic assessments of current financial processes, systems, and frameworks, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, resource optimization, and better alignment between Finance and Operations. This position is crucial for advancing the foundation's growth and vision by promoting financial stewardship and transparency, enabling informed strategic decisions regarding resource allocation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and modeling to provide foundation leadership with insights into operating expenses and resource allocation. Translate complex financial data into clear insights that inform strategic and operational decisions across the organization.
Scenario Planning & Decision Support: Develop and evaluate various financial scenarios to assist leadership in making trade-off and prioritization decisions. Provide analytical rigor and sound judgment to guide discussions on resource allocation, growth, and efficiency.
Process & Systems Improvement: Lead diagnostic work on existing financial planning processes, systems, and frameworks to identify opportunities for streamlining workflows and enhancing alignment between Finance and Operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Finance Centers of Excellence, Operations, and the COO’s office to ensure cohesive financial planning and transparency throughout the organization. Act as a connector to ensure insights from one area inform broader foundation practices.
Financial Stewardship & Insight: Enhance the foundation’s Financial Planning and Analysis capabilities by improving visibility, accountability, and analytical depth. Foster a culture of strategic financial management that balances stewardship with impact.
Culture & Influence: Model inclusive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented behaviors. Lead through influence to align diverse partners around shared goals and promote continuous improvement in financial practices.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a blend of the following qualifications: a strong financial and analytical background with demonstrated experience in modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning; proven ability to analyze complex financial and organizational systems; and the capability to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations that enhance efficiency and transparency. Additionally, candidates should have a high proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into concise, actionable insights for diverse audiences. Strong communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear narratives for both financial and non-financial audiences. Experience working across functions or within large, matrixed organizations is also important, demonstrating flexibility, agility, and a collaborative approach. Candidates should be intellectually curious, proactive, and comfortable working in ambiguity, with a deep commitment to inclusion, learning, and continuous improvement.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or MBA is preferred for this position, along with at least 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications. Candidates should have a strong educational foundation in finance, accounting, or a related field that supports their analytical and strategic capabilities.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and strategy. This experience should include a strong record of achievement in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning, as well as a proven ability to analyze complex financial and organizational systems. Experience in leading cross-functional teams and influencing decision-making processes is also highly valued.
