Job Overview: The position of Conductor at WFP involves operating vehicles for the transportation of authorized personnel and goods, ensuring safety and efficiency in all transport operations. The role is crucial in supporting WFP's mission to deliver humanitarian assistance effectively. The Conductor will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good condition, adhering to safety regulations, and providing basic administrative support as needed. The Conductor will work under the supervision of the Administrative Assistant and will play a vital role in facilitating the movement of staff and supplies, contributing to the overall success of WFP's operations in Colombia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide efficient and safe transportation services for authorized personnel and/or goods.
Follow authorized itineraries for transporting personnel and delivering or picking up various items, adhering to United Nations safety regulations.
Greet official personnel and visitors at airports or other arrival points, assisting them to ensure a smooth and secure arrival at their destination.
Maintain accurate vehicle records and report daily to the supervisor on the vehicle's mechanical condition to ensure efficient fuel consumption and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure the assigned vehicle and all related equipment are clean and in good condition, performing maintenance tasks promptly and ensuring the vehicle is equipped with necessary travel authorizations and supplies.
Follow established regulations for deliveries on the ground and report any issues immediately to the supervisor for informed decision-making.
Perform basic office-related tasks such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining order in storage areas, including delivering or picking up items, mail services, and payment of office bills to provide administrative support to clients.
Required Qualifications: Minimum required qualifications include completion of secondary education and a valid B1 driving license with no traffic violations. Candidates should have at least two years of work experience as a driver, preferably in an international organization, embassy, or United Nations system, demonstrating a safe driving record. Experience driving various vehicle brands and models, including vans and trucks, is essential, and defensive driving experience is valued. Candidates must possess knowledge of driving regulations, safety protocols, and local road conditions, as well as the ability to read and interpret safety documents and operational instructions. Basic first aid knowledge and the ability to use communication devices are also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, which is the minimum educational requirement for this position. A valid driving license (category B1) is mandatory, and candidates should have a clean driving record without any traffic violations. Additional training or certifications related to vehicle operation and safety may be advantageous.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver. Experience in an international organization, embassy, or within the United Nations system is preferred. Candidates should have a proven track record of safe driving in various conditions and familiarity with the operation of different types of vehicles, including trucks and vans. Experience in defensive driving techniques is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in Colombia. Knowledge of English or other languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with international staff and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is offered under a Service Contract for a duration of six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The remuneration level is classified as SC
