Job Overview:
The Finance Manager position is crucial for the overall management of the finance team at the Sittwe base. Reporting directly to the RKS Field Coordinator, the Finance Manager will oversee a team that includes a deputy finance manager, a finance supervisor, an accounting officer, and two cashiers. The role involves building the capacity of the finance team, ensuring that each member has clear objectives and an action plan with deadlines and measurable indicators. The Finance Manager is responsible for maintaining qualitative cash flow and bookkeeping for all transactions at the base, as well as conducting budgetary and financial monitoring. Participation in key internal meetings and regular communication with line and functional managers is also expected. Given the current context in Myanmar, the position may require remote management due to access restrictions, making it essential for the Finance Manager to adapt to these challenges while ensuring effective financial oversight.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance.
  • Develop and implement capacity-building plans for finance team members.
  • Ensure accurate bookkeeping and cash flow management for all transactions.
  • Conduct regular budgetary and financial monitoring, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Organize monthly budget follow-up meetings and train managers on budget management and forecasting.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the 2026 RKS programming, considering potential funding cuts.
  • Report on achievements and financial performance to the RKS Field Coordinator.
  • Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures to minimize risks of fraud and corruption.
  • Adapt to remote working conditions and manage the finance team effectively despite access constraints. 1

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, or business administration.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian field, specifically in financial management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in administrative and financial management for an international NGO.
  • Proficiency in Excel and SAGA software.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, with the ability to work autonomously under pressure.
  • Previous experience in Myanmar and with Solidarités International is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or an equivalent qualification in finance, accounting, or business administration. This educational background is essential to ensure that the Finance Manager has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage financial operations effectively in a humanitarian context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 3 years in a similar role focused on administrative and financial management. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading finance teams and managing financial operations in challenging environments, particularly in remote settings.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of Burmese is considered a strong asset, as it can facilitate better communication with local staff and stakeholders.

  • The role is based in Sittwe, Myanmar, but may require remote management due to access restrictions. The salary for this position starts at EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 500 is provided, along with accommodation and travel expenses covered by the organization. Expatriates will also benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Living conditions in Sittwe may be challenging, with limited access to electricity and internet, and a curfew in place. However, good living conditions are available in Yangon, where social life options are more abundant.
