Job Overview: The School Feeding Programme Coordinator will play a pivotal role in designing and leading the implementation of WFP’s school feeding program. This position requires close collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective coordination and strategic thinking around school feeding initiatives. The coordinator will support policy and program activities that address food assistance needs, particularly focusing on the Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) initiative. The role is essential in fostering collaboration among various sectors, including nutrition, agriculture, and social protection, to enhance the quality and impact of the school feeding program. The coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the program's effectiveness, advocating for its recognition in strategic platforms, and ensuring that all activities are documented for accountability and transparency.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the School Feeding Programme Coordinator include leading the implementation of the school feeding program, managing day-to-day activities, and ensuring timely delivery of food commodities to schools. The coordinator will coordinate with field offices and supply chain units to monitor food stocks and pipeline management. They will provide technical support to government entities in planning and implementing national school feeding programs, mobilize technical expertise for capacity building, and explore opportunities for integration with other sectors. Regular monitoring visits will be conducted to support field staff and partners, and the coordinator will engage with potential donors to develop multi-year program proposals. Additionally, the coordinator will represent WFP in key strategic coordination platforms, improve collaboration with relevant ministries, and contribute to enhancing school feeding infrastructures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field relevant to international development assistance. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training may be accepted. The ideal candidate should have experience in implementing technical programs, providing input into policy discussions, and designing operations. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in fields such as International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or Social Sciences. A first university degree may be acceptable if accompanied by relevant work experience and training. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of food assistance and program implementation in diverse contexts.
Experience: Candidates should have gained experience in implementing technical programs, particularly in areas such as nutrition.
