The organization operates in 26 countries and employs approximately 3,200 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers. Job Overview:
The Grants Manager position is a critical role within the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, reporting directly to the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator. The primary responsibility of the Grants Manager is to ensure accountability to donors and effective management of grants throughout the project cycle. This includes working closely with both program and support teams at coordination and base levels. The role requires strategic contributions to the mission's development, proactive identification of funding opportunities, and oversight of high-quality proposal and report submissions. The Grants Manager must ensure compliance with donor procedures, build staff capacity regarding donor compliance and accountability, and maintain rigorous follow-up on contractual obligations from contracting to closure. The position also involves managing a Reporting and Communication Officer, highlighting the importance of leadership and mentorship within the role.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and deadlines, aligning various teams and stakeholders for cohesive proposal development, managing diverse inputs to create accurate project documents, supporting the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator in developing proposals and responding to donor feedback, training and supervising the Reporting and Communication Officer in their daily tasks, and maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of grants management. The role also involves regular communication with donors and stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability in all grant-related activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in political science, humanitarian action, development, international relations, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law. A minimum of 2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with experience in a similar position considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate excellent writing skills and experience in writing proposals and reports, as well as a strong understanding of donor rules and regulations, particularly those of US, DG ECHO, CDCS, AFD, SDC, and UHF. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent SI at forums and with donors are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in a relevant field such as political science, humanitarian action, development, international relations, or international law. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the regulatory environment surrounding grants and partnerships.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with specific experience in grants management being highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in similar roles, demonstrating their ability to manage donor relationships and ensure compliance with various guidelines and regulations.

Languages:
Professional fluency in spoken and written English and French is mandatory. Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in the local context and with diverse stakeholders.

  • The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and offers a competitive salary starting from EUR 2100 gross per month, along with a monthly Per Diem of USD 70
  • SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The organization implements a system of alternation between work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, with additional rest days granted for each month worked.
