Job Overview: The Senior Insights Strategy for Mass Audiences Consultant role is designed to enhance the Audience and Market Insights (AMI) unit's capacity, focusing on actionable research and insights related to mass and general population audiences. The consultant will support the creation of the Audience Insights Ecosystem, contribute to the actionability of the Brand Barometer, and lead the Individual Giving Insights Strategy. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights that drive action within a global organization. The consultant will work closely with the Audience and Market Insights team to ensure high-quality research execution and effective communication of insights to diverse audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for several key tasks:
Collaborating with vendors to ensure research projects meet quality standards.
Supporting the Audience and Market Insights Team in working sessions with income channel teams or markets.
Assisting in the analysis and presentation of research findings.
Applying a sophisticated understanding of insights application in a global context to generate meaningful actions.
Coaching and upskilling interns and junior staff to support analyses and tasks. The consultant will also be expected to submit monthly deliverables throughout the contract period, ensuring that all pilot market listening tours are completed and insights plans are drafted in partnership with the AMI team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in audience research, insights, and strategy, particularly in reputation and perception research. Strong data analysis skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights are essential. Candidates should have a deep understanding of applying insights in a multifaceted global organization and proven experience in navigating multi-stakeholder environments. Familiarity with quantitative, qualitative, and secondary research methodologies is required, along with a neutral approach to research methods.
Educational Background: A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in cultural studies, communications, psychology, marketing, political studies, development studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding audience dynamics and research methodologies relevant to the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, emphasizing audience research, insights, and strategy. Candidates should have a strong background in data analysis and translating findings into actionable insights, as well as experience in managing projects within a global context. Proven ability to work in multi-stakeholder environments and achieve consensus is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: The consultant will be required to submit all-inclusive fees against the deliverables, including administrative and travel costs. Payment will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables, and UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if the deliverables do not meet the required standards. Selected candidates will not be considered staff members and will not receive benefits typically provided to staff. They are responsible for their tax liabilities and ensuring valid visa and health insurance for the contract duration. Selected candidates must confirm their fully-vaccinated status against COVID-19 with a WHO-endorsed vaccine, although this does not apply to remote consultants.
