Job Overview:
The Junior Insights Analyst Consultant role is designed to enhance the capacity of the Audience and Market Insights (AMI) unit at UNICEF. This position focuses on increasing the actionability of research and insights through various tasks such as conducting desk research, analyzing audience and market data, preparing insight reports, and assisting in the delivery of research projects. The ideal candidate is an early-career researcher with a background in market research, social listening, or audience insights. The consultant will support the AMI team by providing data analysis and visualization support, contributing to research projects, and maintaining organized documentation of research findings. This role is crucial for ensuring that insights are actionable and effectively communicated within the organization, ultimately contributing to UNICEF's mission of advocating for children's rights and well-being.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Junior Insights Analyst Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the High-Value Insights Manager. Key responsibilities include:
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from both internal and external sources, such as surveys, qualitative research, social listening, and syndicated reports.
  • Supporting ongoing research projects, which involves survey design, data cleaning, quality checks, and synthesis of findings.
  • Contributing to the creation of regular insight reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintaining organized documentation of research findings, data sources, and methodologies to ensure easy access and systematic organization.
  • Supporting cross-functional collaboration by providing relevant data and insights to various teams within UNICEF. The consultant will also be expected to submit monthly deliverables throughout the contract period, with payments processed upon acceptance of these deliverables by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Education: A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in cultural studies, communications, psychology, marketing, political studies, development studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in market research, data analysis, or audience insights, either on the agency or client-side. Familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative research methods is essential, and method neutrality is considered an asset. Candidates should also have experience with digital and social analytics tools such as Brandwatch, Talkwalker, or Google Analytics. Strong analytical and data visualization skills are required, with proficiency in tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory, while knowledge of additional UN languages is an asset.
  • Personal Attributes: Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A curious and constructive attitude, along with a desire to learn and grow in the field of research and insights, is highly valued.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in fields such as cultural studies, communications, psychology, marketing, political studies, development studies, or a related area. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of audience insights and market research, which are critical components of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in market research, data analysis, or audience insights. This experience can be gained either on the agency side or client-side. Candidates should be familiar with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and having a method-neutral approach is considered advantageous. Experience with digital and social analytics tools is also necessary, as well as strong analytical and data visualization skills.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within UNICEF. Additionally, knowledge of another UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy contract will run from December 1, 2025, to November 30, 2026, with monthly deliverables expected throughout this period. The consultant will be compensated based on the submission and acceptance of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if the deliverables do not meet the required standards or if there are delays in submission. It is important to note that individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered staff members and will not be entitled to benefits such as leave entitlements or medical insurance coverage. Consultants are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and ensuring that their visa and health insurance are valid for the duration of the contract. Selected candidates must also confirm their fully vaccinated status against COVID-19 with a WHO-endorsed vaccine, although this requirement does not apply to those working remotely.
