Job Overview:
The IDMC Analyst position involves rigorous data collection and analysis regarding internal displacement globally. The analyst will contribute to the monitoring of over 130 countries, providing verified estimates of the number of people internally displaced or at risk of displacement due to conflict, violence, disasters, and development projects. The role requires a strong understanding of the drivers and impacts of internal displacement, as well as the ability to provide tailored advice to inform policy-making at global, regional, and national levels. The analyst will also engage in interdisciplinary research to complement the data collected, ensuring that the findings are robust and actionable for stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive data collection and analysis on internal displacement trends and patterns across various regions.
  • Collaborate with a team of researchers to produce interdisciplinary reports that inform policy and operational decisions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of conflicts, disasters, and development projects on displacement.
  • Prepare and present findings in a clear and accessible manner for diverse audiences, including policymakers and humanitarian organizations.
  • Contribute to the Global Report on Internal Displacement, ensuring timely and accurate data publication.
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide tailored advice and support based on the data and research findings.
  • Maintain and update the Global Internal Displacement Database with the latest information and trends.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing and presentation.
  • Familiarity with statistical software and data visualization tools.
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and the context of internal displacement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, international relations, statistics, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) are preferred, particularly in areas related to displacement, humanitarian studies, or data analysis.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, research, or humanitarian work is required. Experience working with displaced populations or in crisis contexts is highly desirable. Familiarity with international humanitarian frameworks and policies is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with proficiency in French being highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the regions monitored would be an asset.
