Job Overview: The Protection from Violence Officer will play a crucial role in the effective implementation of the Protection from Violence project. This position involves identifying areas for improvement, ensuring that support reaches those most in need, and promoting the rights of affected populations. The Officer will apply Safe and Inclusive Programming standards across all activities, ensuring that the project aligns with the organization's advocacy strategy. The role requires a proactive approach to engage with communities, assess their needs, and provide necessary support, including psychosocial assistance. The Officer will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and reporting on project progress, challenges, and achievements to the Protection from Violence Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Protection from Violence Officer will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Implementing technical activities of the Protection from Violence project, ensuring adherence to NRC guidelines.
Documenting technical activities and providing analysis and feedback to NRC representatives in coordination forums.
Promoting the rights of affected populations in line with the advocacy strategy.
Contributing to the implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards.
Conducting assessments and facilitating core Civilian Self-Protection (CSP) training.
Following up on community action plans and providing psychosocial support and referrals as needed.
Reporting weekly and monthly achievements and challenges to the Protection from Violence Coordinator.
Maintaining Civilian Self-Protection files with accuracy and confidentiality.
Preparing procurement or payment requests for material assistance in line with community action plans. 1
Participating in mapping exercises and assessments to identify the needs of vulnerable populations in the West Bank, particularly in Hebron and surrounding neighborhoods. 1
Identifying barriers to access services and documenting them for reporting purposes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least two years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly with international organizations. A minimum of two years' experience in implementing protection programming is required, preferably in a humanitarian setting. Experience in research, journalism, or human rights work is also valuable. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of human rights and protection issues, along with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Creativity and flexibility are essential traits for success in this role. Additionally, candidates must have advanced proficiency in both English and Arabic, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with diverse populations.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a relevant degree in social sciences, international relations, human rights, or a related field. Candidates with additional training or certifications in psychosocial support or counselling will be preferred, as these skills are critical for providing effective support to affected populations.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least two years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in protection programming. Experience working directly with affected populations and understanding their rights and protection issues is highly advantageous. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of basic counselling and psychosocial support concepts, with previous training in these areas being strongly preferred.
Languages: Proficiency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with diverse communities is essential. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with various populations and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Hebron and is classified as Grade (05) Step (01). The contract duration is for 5 months, with the possibility of renewal based on the needs of the position, available funding, and performance.
