Job Overview:
The Social Media and Digital Content Coordinator will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and engagement of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) through effective digital communication strategies. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and implementing day-to-day content development and dissemination across various social media platforms, ensuring that all content aligns with the strategic objectives of the Convention and its Protocols. This position requires a proactive approach to planning and executing thematic digital campaigns and public outreach events, such as the International Day for Biological Diversity. The role also involves drafting and editing content derived from high-level speeches and official statements, adapting this material for digital channels, and monitoring emerging digital trends to inform content strategies. The coordinator will serve as the focal point for social media and digital content matters, providing strategic input and recommendations to enhance the Convention's online presence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: coordinating and implementing content development and scheduling across official social media channels; planning and supporting thematic digital campaigns and public outreach events; drafting, reviewing, and editing content for digital channels; monitoring digital trends and analytics; serving as the focal point for social media and digital content; maintaining content updates for the Convention’s website; providing administrative and logistical support to the unit; managing the publication of multimedia and written content; assisting with data collection and analysis; and performing other duties as required. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and outreach initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Training in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint is required, along with supplementary training in relevant areas such as communication or public relations. A strong understanding of social media management and marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing is essential, as well as the ability to coordinate the production of reports and documents on technical issues. Proven analytical skills and the ability to perform data analysis in support of decision-making are also required.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional training in communication, public relations, or related fields is desirable. Candidates with a first-level university degree may have reduced experience requirements.

Experience:
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in social media management, digital marketing, or a related field is required. This experience is reduced to five years for candidates with a first-level university degree. Desirable experience includes working with communication, marketing, or public relations agencies, as well as experience in environmental communication and advocacy. Experience in supporting activities related to biodiversity and data analytics is also desirable.

Languages:
English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level IV in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is desirable, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in the same areas. Candidates should refer to the UN Language Framework for detailed language requirements.

The appointment for this position is for an initial period of one year and may be subject to extension based on the continued existence of the mandate and availability of funding.
