Job Overview:
The Senior Technical Officer for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) and Nutrition will play a crucial role in providing technical support to staff and projects under the supervision of the MCH/Nutrition Senior Advisor. This position is pivotal in implementing and monitoring strategic initiatives related to MNCH and nutrition, particularly USG-endorsed life-saving interventions for pregnant women, newborns, and children. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that project implementation adheres to technical standards and best practices, while also contributing to the development of knowledge products such as reports and technical briefs. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of MNCH and nutrition programming, as well as the ability to analyze project data and propose improvements to enhance service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Technical Officer will be responsible for providing overall technical guidance related to evidence-based MNCH and nutrition programming. This includes reviewing and developing project strategies, protocols, manuals, and training materials. The officer will work closely with project teams to ensure that implementation remains technically sound and adheres to established strategies and standard operating procedures. Additionally, the officer will develop technical briefs and reports, analyze project implementation for areas of improvement, and collaborate with research teams to interpret data. Monitoring project deliverables and preparing reports summarizing project results will also be key responsibilities. The officer will build productive relationships internally and externally to facilitate effective project execution.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of global MNCH and nutrition best practices, with experience in capacity strengthening models that improve access and quality of clinical care. A demonstrated track record of collaboration with program leadership and technical teams is essential. Experience working with USG-funded health programs is highly preferred. Candidates should also have sensitivity to cultural diversity and an understanding of the political and ethical issues in the assigned areas. Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to analyze data and prepare reports.

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in Public Health, Health, Nutrition, Research, or a related field is required. Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in managing health-related projects effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of relevant experience providing technical support in MNCH and nutrition to national or global technical teams. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization is essential to understand the dynamics of health program implementation.

Languages:
Fluency in French and Haitian Creole is required, with advanced English preferred. The ability to read, write, and speak fluent English is highly desired to facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Les Cayes, Haiti, and preference will be given to Haitian local nationals. The role may require up to 75% travel within the country.
