Job Overview:
The internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme at IOM is designed to attract talented students and recent graduates who have a keen interest in migration-related issues and IOM's activities. Interns are expected to be between the ages of 20 and 36 and should have less than two years of relevant work experience. The programme aims to provide interns with practical experience in the field of migration, allowing them to support IOM's operational activities while gaining valuable insights into the workings of an international organization. Interns will work under the supervision of experienced professionals, contributing to various projects and initiatives, particularly in the area of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR).

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist with the operational activities of the IOM Mission in Istanbul, specifically supporting the AVRR project. Responsibilities include: assisting in the implementation and monitoring of daily activities, supporting administrative and financial processes, organizing workshops and meetings, coordinating service delivery with finance and procurement units, providing translation and interpretation support, managing AVRR application intakes, maintaining appointment schedules, compiling and analyzing project-related data, providing feedback on referral protocols, participating in training sessions, and evaluating the effectiveness of assistance provided to AVRR beneficiaries. Interns may also be assigned additional duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated within the last 12 months. They should demonstrate a strong interest in migration issues and IOM's work, and possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a university degree programme at the Bachelor’s level or higher. Relevant fields of study may include international relations, social sciences, migration studies, or other related disciplines that align with IOM's mission and activities.

Experience:
Interns should have less than two years of relevant work experience. This may include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to migration, international development, or humanitarian assistance. Experience in administrative roles or project support is advantageous but not mandatory.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Turkish is mandatory for this internship. Knowledge of IOM's official languages, which include French and Spanish, is considered an asset. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may involve written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates can effectively communicate in the required languages.

Additional Notes:
The internship is subject to funding confirmation and will require certification of medical fitness for appointment, as well as verification of residency and visa requirements where applicable. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those receiving financial support from their university or other sponsoring bodies will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan, but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational issues. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct and does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.
