Job Overview: The UNV Adi Yuva Fellow will play a crucial role in supporting the Passport to Earning (P2E) program, which is designed to provide job-relevant skills to young people, particularly from marginalized communities in India. This position involves working closely with various stakeholders, including government ministries and implementing agencies, to facilitate youth mobilization, course enrollment, and placement support. The fellow will be responsible for managing program operations, monitoring progress, and ensuring that the program aligns with its targets and timelines. The role also includes documentation of success stories and lessons learned, particularly focusing on the experiences of tribal communities. The fellow will collaborate with UNICEF and YuWaah teams to promote knowledge sharing and best practices, contributing to the overall success of the program and its impact on youth development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UNV Adi Yuva Fellow will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Passport to Earning (P2E) program, ensuring alignment with agreed targets and timelines.
Managing multiple program platforms such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), Dashboards, and Management Information Systems (MIS) through effective coordination with digital learning partners.
Coordinating with implementing agencies to facilitate youth mobilization, course enrollment, skilling activities, and placement support.
Strengthening interventions focused on skilling young people from tribal communities.
Documenting success stories, case studies, and lessons learned, particularly for tribal communities.
Organizing review meetings, field visits, capacity-building sessions, and promotional events related to P2E.
Collaborating with UNICEF/YuWaah teams to ensure effective knowledge management and sharing of best practices.
Participating in UNV activities and contributing to the promotion of volunteerism.
Assisting with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers. 1
Promoting the use of online volunteering and encouraging local individuals and organizations to utilize the UNV Online Volunteering service.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. A commitment to the principles of volunteerism and a passion for youth development and empowerment are essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work environment, along with a strong sense of ethics and integrity. Knowledge of the challenges faced by marginalized communities, particularly tribal youth, will be an advantage. The candidate should also be open to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, education, or a related field is required. Candidates with relevant certifications or training in project management, youth development, or community engagement will be preferred. A strong understanding of the socio-economic issues affecting tribal communities in India is also beneficial.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have prior experience in program management, community engagement, or youth development initiatives. Experience working with marginalized communities, particularly tribal groups, will be highly valued. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes, as well as experience in documentation and reporting, is also desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing projects and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within UNICEF and for documentation purposes. Proficiency in Hindi or any regional language spoken by tribal communities will be considered an asset, as it will facilitate better communication and engagement with the target population.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The position is for a duration of 12 months, and the fellow will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The monthly voluntary living allowance (VLA) is INR 51,969.20, along with an entry lump sum payment of USD 400 and relocation costs if applicable. The fellow will also receive an exit allowance upon successful completion of the assignment, comprehensive insurance coverage, and access to UNV's learning and career development resources. It is important to note that this position is exclusively open to candidates from Scheduled Tribe communities, and a Scheduled Tribe certificate issued by the Government must be uploaded at the time of application.
