Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the Energising Development (EnDev) project, which addresses the critical issue of energy access for millions of people worldwide. With approximately 760 million individuals lacking electricity and 2.6 billion without clean cooking energy, the project aims to promote climate-friendly and needs-based energy solutions. EnDev's mission is to sustainably enhance energy supply for impoverished households, social institutions, and small to medium-sized enterprises. The project operates from Cotonou, with a focus on off-grid solar electrification and clean cooking solutions, working closely with the Ministry of Energy in Benin and other partners to facilitate the global energy transition. Interns will play a vital role in supporting project activities, contributing to communication efforts, and assisting in the management of contracts and project monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of various project activities. This includes contributing to the preparation and quality assurance of publications, reports, status updates, presentations, and other communication forms. Interns will also support contract management and help ensure the quality of assignments carried out by both international and national contractors. Additionally, they will assist with impact monitoring and reporting, public relations, and communication efforts. Knowledge management within the project and collaboration with other projects and colleagues will also be part of their responsibilities, along with daily administrative tasks related to the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program or have graduated within the last six months in a field relevant to the project, such as energy, engineering, environment, international cooperation, geography, agronomy, or a comparable qualification. Prior experience or internships in energy projects or international cooperation, particularly in West Africa, are considered advantageous. Expertise in project development, private sector development, and financing is also beneficial. Familiarity with GIZ procedures regarding the procurement of services and goods is a plus. Strong social competence, intercultural sensitivity, commitment, team spirit, reliability, and a structured working style are essential, along with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s degree or be currently enrolled in a Master’s program in a relevant field such as energy, engineering, environment, international cooperation, geography, or agronomy. Recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last six months are also eligible to apply for this internship position.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience or internships related to energy projects or international cooperation. Experience specifically involving West Africa is highly desirable. Familiarity with project development, private sector development, and financing will be considered an asset, as will knowledge of GIZ procedures in the context of service and goods procurement.
Languages: Proficiency in French is mandatory, as fluency is required for effective communication within the project. Working proficiency in English is also necessary. Knowledge of German is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.
