Job Overview:
The Regional Communications Senior Specialist position is designed to enhance the visibility of the Department Central America, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and Dominican Republic (CID). This role is pivotal in translating the IDB's organizational priorities into effective communication strategies that resonate with various stakeholders. The specialist will work closely with senior management and various departments to ensure that communication efforts align with the IDB's mission and goals. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Regional Communications Senior Specialist include serving as a strategic advisor to senior management, ensuring consistency in messaging across all communications, and managing relationships with media outlets. The specialist will lead the development of a comprehensive regional communication strategy, provide guidance to communication teams, and facilitate collaboration across countries. Additionally, the role involves creating high-quality content for various platforms, managing media interactions, and proactively addressing communication needs during crises. The specialist will also be responsible for establishing strong connections with regional influencers and opinion leaders to amplify the IDB's messaging.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, international development, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within communications or external affairs. Experience in a multilateral development bank or in developing regions is preferred, along with a strong understanding of the socio-political dynamics in the countries served by the CID Department. Proven expertise in strategic communications, media relations, and content creation is essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, marketing, or international development. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and their implementation in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Candidates should have a strong background in communications and external affairs, particularly within national or international organizations. Experience working in the countries included in the CID Department is highly valued, as is familiarity with the socio-political landscape of these regions.

Languages:
Proficiency in both English and Spanish is mandatory for this role, as effective communication in these languages is essential for engaging with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of French is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a broader context within the region.

The position offers an international staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
