Job Overview: The Protection Team Leader (TL) will play a crucial role in the effective implementation of DRC's protection interventions in the Shamayateen and Mowzsit areas. Reporting directly to the Protection Manager and receiving technical guidance from the Protection Specialist, the TL will oversee Case Management (CM) services, Individual Protection Assistance (IPA), psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (PSS) activities, and Legal Aid interventions. The TL will be responsible for organizing and coordinating protection activities, providing technical support and capacity-building to the protection staff, and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, including community members and partners. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that protection activities are implemented in accordance with DRC's standard operating procedures and best practices, while also addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Protection Team Leader will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Grants Management: Ensure the successful implementation of protection activities, including timely spending plans, project planning, and monitoring of financial commitments.
Technical Support and Supervision: Provide guidance to the protection team, conduct field visits, identify technical gaps, and facilitate capacity-building initiatives.
Staff Management: Oversee the protection staff, promote team building, participate in recruitment processes, and ensure adherence to HR procedures.
Monitoring and Reporting: Submit regular reports on protection activities, revise tracking sheets, and coordinate with the MEAL team for timely assessments.
Coordination and Representation: Develop relationships with stakeholders, advocate for vulnerable individuals, and maintain service mapping.
Other Duties: Perform any additional tasks as directed by the Protection Manager and ensure compliance with DRC's Code of Conduct.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess relevant professional experience in Case Management and Psychosocial Support for a minimum of four years, along with proven leadership qualities in team management. Familiarity with DRC's operations and the needs of its beneficiaries, including internally displaced persons and refugees, is highly advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills, respect for confidentiality, and the ability to work in a multicultural context are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent writing, reporting, and analytical skills, as well as familiarity with international protection and human rights standards.
Educational Background: A university degree in management, social sciences, or a related field is required. Candidates with proven field experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. An advanced university degree is desirable but not mandatory.
Experience: The position requires at least four years of relevant professional experience in Case Management and Psychosocial Support, along with experience in team management and leadership. Familiarity with DRC and its beneficiaries is a distinct advantage, as is a strong understanding of local communities and customary rules.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic (reading and writing) is mandatory, as well as fluency in English (reading and writing). These language skills are essential for effective communication and reporting in the role.
Additional Notes: The contract length for this position is until December 31, 2026, and it falls within the Management (MG) band. The position is based in Taiz – Al-Turbah, Yemen, and the start date is as soon as possible. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
