Job Overview:
The Protection Officer will work under the supervision of the Protection team leader, engaging in daily activities that span various departments. This role requires collaboration with other Sector Specialists to oversee Protection activities effectively. The position holder will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to staff and partners in the region, ensuring that GBV Protection considerations are integrated into design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and activities. The officer will conduct analyses of GBV Protection constraints, recommend initiatives, and design indicators for assessing progress in GBV Protection and Case Management programs. The role also involves conducting evaluations, training sessions, and coordinating with various actors to ensure accessible services for survivors of GBV and vulnerable individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Officer's duties include conducting robust analyses of GBV Protection constraints within the target beneficiary population, establishing relationships with FHI 360's Protection partners in Ethiopia, and ensuring that GBV Protection considerations are integrated into program design and activities. The officer will support the design of indicators for assessing progress with GBV Protection and Case Management programs, conduct periodic evaluations, and recommend necessary corrections. Additionally, the officer will design and conduct training for FHI 360 staff, implementation partners, and beneficiaries, coordinate with various actors to ensure safe and confidential services for survivors of GBV, and conduct quarterly activity review sessions with beneficiaries to assess the effectiveness of activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with database management software and online search tools. They should have the ability to develop scopes of work and deliverables for partners and consultants, possess sensitivity to cultural diversity, and have an understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, along with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required, as is the ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors, and prepare reports. Problem-solving skills and the ability to implement corrective actions are also necessary, along with fluency in English.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in fields such as Humanitarian Studies, Social Work, Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related discipline is required for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have 3-5 years of working experience in GBV Protection and Counseling or Gender integration at either the national or international level. Experience dealing with women's rights and Gender Equality within public institutions or international organizations is required, along with a solid understanding of safeguarding and accountability.

Languages:
Fluency in the local language is mandatory, and excellent proficiency in English is also required for this position.

Additional Notes:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities and typically reports to the Protection Coordinator. The work environment is typical of an office setting, with the ability to spend long hours looking at a computer screen and performing repetitive tasks.
